Wonders of Water!

June 23-27 | Ages 5-7 & 8-10

9:00 am – 3:30 pm

Monday-Friday $570 + tax

Strap on your water shoes and get ready to cool off in the beautiful mountain streams in Santa Fe. Not only will you get to play and explore in our magical waters, you will also learn where our water comes from, where it goes, and the importance of taking care of our watershed. We will hunt for aquatic macroinvertebrates in our streams, and learn what they can tell us about water quality. Last but not least, we will share multiple techniques for safe water purification so that you always have enough water on your next outdoor adventure. Of course, there will be plenty of time for fun and games with and without water! On Friday, we will head to Abiquiu Lake to cool off and enjoy swimming.  (All campers are required to wear life jackets.)

Did you know?  The Santa Fe River Watershed is 285 square miles – from Lake Peak (12,408’) in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the confluence with the Rio Grande at Cochiti (5,220’)

Forts & Foraging

June 16-20 | Ages 5-7, 8-10, 11-13

In this week, we will explore shelter building and grow our understanding of our plant friends! From foraging for nutritive teas to scouting shelter building materials and learning how to camouflage in the woods; with plants we can thrive in nature. By the end of the week, the knowledge we gain will leave us feeling inspired and empowered!

Did you know? Trees communicate and share nutrients with one another through an underground network of fungi in the soil!

Wilderness Skills

Have you ever wondered what it takes to survive in the wilderness? Come learn the essential skills for staying safe, building shelter, finding water, navigating, archery and more! You will not only have a fun time exploring the beautiful Santa Fe National Forest, but will leave feeling more confident and safe in the outdoors. Ready for adventure? Let’s go!

Mountain Biking Camp: Level 1

June 2-6 | Ages 8-13 | 8:30 am- 3:00 pm

Mon-Fri $595 + tax

Challenge Level:

Grab your mountain bike and get tuned up for some riding adventures! Riders will start with the basics, and learn tips for riding single track, braking, body positioning, trail etiquette, and supporting each other on the trail.

More experienced riders are welcome at this camp as well as riders new to trails. All riders should be comfortable riding a bike.

We will ride at La Tierra and along on the river trail where we will explore the pump track and trails at Frenchy’s Field. Drop-off location will be either at La Tierra or at Alto Park each day. Campers must have their own mountain bike, in good working order, and a helmet.

Amazing Animals!

May 27-30 | Ages 5-7, 8-10 & 11-13

9:00 am –3:30 pm 

Tuesday-Friday $465 + tax

Animal lovers unite! This week we will learn about some of the amazing animals of New Mexico. We will examine animal tracks and signs on our hikes in nature and we’ll examine pelts and skulls of local mammals.

We will also get up close and personal with raptors and other rescued animals at the Wildlife Center in Espanola. Of course, making new friends, games and teamwork are a part of all Mountain Kids! adventures.

Mountain Biking Mamas!

Beginner and intermediate mountain bikers are invited to learn riding skills, challenge themselves, and have fun!

We will begin with the basics: ready position, gearing and braking, climbing and descending, mindset, and trail safety and awareness.  As we progress we will explore cornering, riding over obstacles, and more. This will be a great opportunity to learn skills to build confidence to ride with your kids, connect with other mamas, get some exercise, and have fun!

Sept 18 – Oct 30, 2024 (Oct 2 off)

Program will meet at La Tierra, Frijoles trailhead. We hope to explore other trails in the Santa Fe area as well.

Six Wednesdays, 9:00 am-11:30 am

Pull back on the bow, look down the length of the arrow and take aim. Ready, steady, fire! The arrow flies straight and true through the air – bull’s eye! We will teach you how to safely use a bow and arrow. All skill levels are welcome; whether you are an experienced sharpshooter, or this is your first time doing archery, you will learn new skills. In addition to archery, kids will enjoy all of the usual fun Mountain Kids! activities – nature games, tracking, shelter building, crafting and more!

Did you know? Arrows shot in competition fly 2.5 times faster than a sprinting cheetah.
