Hiking & Heart Retreat

October 3 - October 8

October 3-8, 2024. High Camp Hut, Telluride, CO

The second annual ? Women’s Hiking and Heart Retreat ? provides a group of adventurous women an awe-inspiring four days in the San Juan Mountains, where we will connect with nature, as well as our hearts, bodies, and minds.

Adventurous women will enjoy:
• The beauty and awe of hiking in the dramatic San Juan Mountains at 11,000 feet, just outside Telluride, Colorado
• Connecting with nature in a pristine alpine backyard composed of 320 acres of private land surrounded by 2 million acres of National Forest
• A connection to your heart through creative exercises, meditation, sit spots in nature, reflection and sharing.

• An exploration of the four elements (earth, air, water and fire) and your elemental make-up to find greater self-awareness, balance, and joy
• The joy of connection, laughter, and singing around a campfire or the dinner table to share stories after our day’s adventures
• A rustic experience of living in a completely solar-powered cabin

There will be time for relaxing and soaking in the wood-fired hot tub, while enjoying the fullness of time without a digital connection to the outside world.

You will leave with a deeper connection to nature, to your heart, to a group of wonderful women, and clarity about the questions that you bring to this adventure. You will be nourished by these connections; and by healthy, organic food, journaling and time to be fully present during your days in the mountains.

YOUR GUIDE
Katie Macaulay; teacher, seeker, lover of the earth, photographer, and mountain mama. Katie is the founder and director of Mountain Kids! and Mountain Mamas: programs which aim to connect kids and women with the natural world. Katie has found peace, clarity and joy through daily time spent in nature and is excited to share this opportunity for you to experience your own magic in the mountains.

THE SPOT: HIGH CAMP
The lodge is nestled at 11,000 feet, just outside of Telluride, Colorado, a 2.5-mile jaunt to explore a place of true natural beauty. Your gear will be transported by 4×4 vehicle, while we will hike in together with only a day pack. High Camp is fully sustained off the grid with solar, propane, and wood-fired stoves. Accommodation is in twin beds, double occupancy. Showers and the hot tub are solar powered! ☀️??

This mountain lodge is one of the most unique in the world. Cut, built and designed by the resources found on its 320 acres – the feel of its off-the-grid remote escape brings its visitor’s minds to the moment as it shows off wild sunset and sunrise colors daily. Just bring yourself and an explorative mindset to have a backcountry experience you will not forget.

DETAILS and LOGISTICS

Participants are responsible for transportation to the retreat trailhead, and accommodations prior to and following the retreat. (A list of participant emails will be provided to enable carpooling.)

If you are coming from sea level, you must arrive at least one day prior in order to acclimatize to altitude before going up to 11,000 feet. We will have oxygen available at the hut, should you need it. Plan to keep well-hydrated to avoid altitude sickness.
