Backpacking & Leadership for Teens

June 23-27 | Ages 13-17 | Four-Day Backpacking Trip

Monday-Friday | $795 + tax

The group will traverse the Sangre de Cristo mountains from Santa Fe to Pecos, enjoying several beautiful alpine lakes along the way.

A variety of aspects of leadership will be highlighted, discussed and practiced this week. Campers will learn how to prepare and pack for a backpacking trip, the 6 W’s, map reading and Leave No Trace Principles. Campers will have an opportunity to challenge themselves, gain leadership skills, make new friends, have fun, and enjoy the beauty of the back country.

Campers will need a backpacking pack, sleeping bag, sleeping pad and tent. We have some equipment to loan; please inquire if you need gear.

We will meet for a gear check and preparation Monday, and campers will head out Tuesday-Friday for four-days and three nights.

Counselors-in-Training and those who wish to apply to be C.I.T.s in the future are encouraged to apply.

Drop-off/Pick-up Times and Locations
We are offering two drop-off/pick-up locations to choose from: Patrick Smith Park and Swan Park. Swan Park campers will meet at 8:30 and be shuttled to Patrick Smith, leaving at 8:45 to join with other campers.  Pick up for all groups is between 3:30-3:45 at their respective locations.
